My best friend when I lived in Michigan was Armenian (I know it isn't spelled right but I have no clue) anyway they are close to Greek food and they love that stuff. But other than that I LOVE Greek food.

I have tried tofu. Jen Harper (Tommy don't know if you know her or not) eats that and she had me try it. I gagged. Maybe it is a head thing and I went in thinking it was going to be nasty but I did gag. Not much of a soy bean person so that might be why alsoVickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04584105952800020400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4254983862613092490.post-85883463579624834482008-03-17T13:54:00.000-04:002008-03-17T13:54:00.000-04:00I actually do like hummus! However, a lot of vegetarians either don't like it, or find it too fattening. It works in a pinch, if it's cooked right. If it's not cooked right, it is every bit as nasty as you might imagine.

What about hummus? Y'all find it to be icky? That's one of those things that can either rock your world or make you ill. I like some kinds, others make me gag.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12708601090893899916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4254983862613092490.post-7010979546888635652008-03-17T10:52:00.000-04:002008-03-17T10:52:00.000-04:00Never had couscous, it looks ok to me, looks like ...Never had couscous, it looks ok to me, looks like rice. I agree on tofu, looks like lard. I think it's made out of soy beans, is that right Tommy?joannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03032334418266325551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4254983862613092490.post-25089696422693699772008-03-17T08:49:00.000-04:002008-03-17T08:49:00.000-04:00Guess so Tommy because I am sorry that looks nasty...Guess so Tommy because I am sorry that looks nasty as it can be. If someone put that in front of me I would be like are you seriously thinking I am going to eat that?? I knew it was onions on top. And couscous is another thing I have tried and immediately threw up (and that is true) ewwww in the taste of that!!

Tofu just looks like lard to me. slabs of it or something. do you even know what it is? i mean what is is made of?Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04584105952800020400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4254983862613092490.post-92210959357968652102008-03-17T06:34:00.000-04:002008-03-17T06:34:00.000-04:00Oh my, I'm going to continue to be the pseudo-vege...Oh my, I'm going to continue to be the pseudo-vegetarian nerd who sweeps in to defend the nasty lookin' shit, aren't I?

Polenta is basically corn meal - so, it's sorta the same size/texture as couscous, I guess. The stuff on top is sauteed onions, which I love.

As for tofu, I've tried it a number of ways, but the only way I can really tolerate it is the extra-firm variety in a stir-fry, cooked in teriyaki sauce or something. It is bland as-is, but if you cook it in something, it takes on the flavor of that sauce/spice.

I concur - it's sorta icky if not done just right. As for polenta, it tastes better than it looks. I promise!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12708601090893899916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4254983862613092490.post-50804619110960720382008-03-16T19:55:00.000-04:002008-03-16T19:55:00.000-04:00That is some nasty looking crap ewww!! I don't kno...That is some nasty looking crap ewww!! I don't know what polenta actually is, I've seen it in the hispanic food section at the grocery store, it looks like a processed cheese log.joannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03032334418266325551noreply@blogger.com
