Last night

I think I saw the stupidest movie ever made! My Best Friends Girlfriend!! I still can NOT even believe that Kate Hudson would have lowered herself to be in a movie like that.

Ok please help me with this one

So you know I watch American Idol. Sorry to those of you who think its lame but I love it. Anyway they were in Utah last night and doing auditions. Ok so in walks, oh hell can't remember his first name LOL, Blank Osmond!! He is Alan Osmonds son! So he auditions and he makes it. But the question remains.. Why in the HJELL if you are an Osmond and Alan's son to say the least, you have major connections through your uncle, you know they all talk cause those mormons are a close knit group, why in the hell would you subject yourself to AI when you KNOW your uncle HAS connections that can get you somewhere?? I just do NOT get it!!

BTW Alan looked like hell. He has MS but damn he is one big guy!!

Project

Preston came home yesterday with a project of "If you could be any animal for one full day what would you be and why?" And you could not chose a bird. Way to many people chose that. I agree with that all around. It might be fun to fly for an hour or so just to experience it but I really dont think I would want to do it ALL day. I thought anout this... I think I would like to be a monkey. They are my most favorite to watch in a zoo. They have so much fun and can play all day long. Now the grooming each other LOL I might could do without but I would love swing from branch to branch and just having fun all day long.

So what about you? What would you like to be and why and the same NO bird thing applies

Stomp

I so want to see this show. It is here in Atlanta this week. No money right now to see it. But was wondering if anyone had seen it and if it was worth the money? Or if you knew anyone that had seen it? I know it is a show you can not have a headache seeing LOL cause it looks VERY loud to me.

The Absent Minded Professor/ Son Of Flubber/ Righteous Kill

Lets start with The Absent Minded Professor: The remake of this was Flubber. I really like Robin Williams (I know he really grates a lot of peoples nerves because he is so multiple it is crazy. But he makes me laugh so hard and he has done some good work) with that said there is still NO contest between him and Fred MacMurray. Fred played this role so well and made this movie so much fun. One thing about the older versions is back then they did not have to take everything over the top. They left a movie simple and clean. My kids liked this one also. Son Of Flubber was also fun. we did laugh a lot in this one also. Not as good as the first, when are sequels as good, but we did have fun with them both.
Righteous Kill: My friend Tommy got me excited about this one because I LOVE De Niro and Pacino. But it did not impress me much. It wasn't awful, don't get me wrong, just wish they would have paired them in something much more "mafia" LOL or something. Glad I rented it and didn't pay to see it.

Dreaming

So every year HGTV gives away a dream house. You can enter every day to win, which I do like that fact. This year the house is in Sonoma CA. It is so pretty and OMG I want it bad. Go check it out and hey enter to win. It is worth it and you never know right? Someone has to win it..... www.hgtv.com and then click at the top where it says dream house. You can even take a tour of it through pictures or actually like going in it. I personally liked the pictures better

I sure do wish

that someone would explain to me why it is so much easier for guys to lose weight than it is for girls. It just makes NO sense to me. I mean Lop can lose 10 pounds in like a week and a half and here I sit trying like mad to get this last bit off and it seems like nothing is happening. Why the hell is that?

The Love Bug

OMG I LOVE this movie. It is SOOOOOOO much better than the remake. My kids loved it also, even Caleb, who I know hated to even admit it LOL. Funny because Dean Jones was in everything back in the day. My kids are like "Is there a movie Disney made that he wasn't in?" But he is cute as he can be and I do love that man.

Goodbye To A VERY Dear Friend

Today was a very sad morning when Lop received a text from Jen Harper telling us that Carol Mitchell Leon had died. We have known her for what seems like forever. She worked with Lop on so many different things. I have some great funny memories of her and she will be missed by the Young's for sure. So goodbye Carol we will all miss you until we get the chance to see you again

That Darn Cat and Bed Knobs and Bromsticks

So these are 2 that we watched last night. My kids did like them. Ok well all except for Caleb who said "I'm not sure I should have agreed to this because I hate old movies" LOL. But funny enough he is watching them with us. It was funny to because he laughed so hard at how much of a boy Halley Mills looked like when she was in Parent Trap and how cute she actually was in That Darn Cat. Bed Knobs was kind of cheesy but That Darn Cat I love and always will

Two down

Well I have now read 2 books. Yea me LOL. I love taking time out of each day for just me and a book. I just finished Mary Higgins Clark's "Before I Say Goodbye". Not even sure why i had this book. I am not a big fan of mystery books. Finny cause I love movies that are mystery. Guess I just like the screen version better. Anyway it was a good book. Not one of the best I read but good none the less. So on the my next which I can not wait to read........

The Duchess

I absolutely love period pieces. The Queen, The Other Boylen Sister etc. are just great movies to me I love the clothes they wore back then, the shoes, the coats, their hair, well everything LOL. The one thing that does make me sick is how women were treated like dogs. Meaning that men would screw who they wanted, when they wanted and it just did not matter. I will never understand this. Anyway, this movie was very good and one of the things I liked the best was her getting back at her lying cheating husband. If you have not seen this you should.

Infommercial Products

Ok since Joanne stole the thing I was gonna post today LOL I had to come up with something else ;O) So I decided why not talk about the stuff I have gotten through TV. Ok well I actually usually just go to Bed, Bath and Beyond to get it and save the shipping costs, but it is stuff from TV. This past week we got the pedicure thing for dogs nails. I have to say that it works wonderful. My puppy Paisley, she had to get used to the noise of the thing. She will attack my vacuum when I run it so this was just her thing. But once I got her settled down it went great. Then we got the shamwow! I do like it, but we got it because we are tired of cleaning pee, the kids hate taking the dog out and she ends up peeing in the house. Needless to say we are working on this issue. The thing is, they don't tell you you have to use vinegar and water to pull it all out. but it pulls the water up great. When I am doing dishes and use it afterward i barely have to touch my skin and it is dry. So to both of these.. I give a 2 thumbs up

Australia offers 'best job in world' on paradise island

SYDNEY (AFP) – An Australian state is offering internationally what it calls "the best job in the world" -- earning a top salary for lazing around a beautiful tropical island for six months.
The job pays 150,000 Australian dollars (105,000 US dollars) and includes free airfares from the winner's home country to Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland's state government announced on Tuesday.

In return, the "island caretaker" will be expected to stroll the white sands, snorkel the reef, take care of "a few minor tasks" -- and report to a global audience via weekly blogs, photo diaries and video updates.

The successful applicant, who will stay rent-free in a three-bedroom beach home complete with plunge pool and golf buggy, must be a good swimmer, excellent communicator and be able to speak and write English.

"They'll also have to talk to media from time to time about what they're doing so they can't be too shy and they'll have to love the sea, the sun, the outdoors," said acting state Premier Paul Lucas.

"The fact that they will be paid to explore the islands of the Great Barrier Reef, swim, snorkel and generally live the Queensland lifestyle makes this undoubtedly the best job in the world."
Lucas said the campaign was part of a drive to protect the state's 18 billion Australian dollar a year tourism industry during the tough economic climate caused by the global financial meltdown.

"Traditional tourism advertising just doesn't cut it sometimes and we are thinking outside the box by launching this campaign."

Queensland Tourism Minister Desley Boyle said some people might question whether it was risky to let an unknown person become an unofficial tourism spokesperson for the state.
"I think the biggest risk will be that the successful candidate won't want to go home at the end of the six months," she said.

"This is a legitimate job which is open to anyone and everyone." Applications are open until February 22. Eleven shortlisted candidates will be flown to Hamilton Island in early May for the final selection process and the six month contract will commence on July 1.
Job-seekers can apply on Islandreefjob.com

I don't know about you guys but I'm seriously filling out my application today!

Because I made

some chocolate chip cookies, ok well my version of them, today it made me think.... Is there a cookie that you make the right way all except one ingredient? Like when i make toll house chocolate chip cookie, i barely add any chips. Not sure why but we just all like them with few chips. Also when I bake a cake 99% of the time we do not ice the thing LOL. Lop is the only one who likes icing so why even bother. he has a little can and he does his pieces that he eats.

So what about you? Anything like me on this?

One down

I guess in my "Happy New Year" post i forgot to mention when it comes to books i am all over the place with them. I usually do not read all the trendy books like "The Secret" and such. Not that they are not good books but i don't know, just never have cause they are trendy, the trend of the year kind of thing and i just can't get into it at all. Anyway, when i walk into Border's (because it is closer than Barnes and Noble) i walk over to the table of the new paperbacks (i love the way they make them now that the look and feel more like a hardback with a soft back cover LOL) and just start reading the backs of covers to see what they are about. I have to admit i am captured by the name of a book. If the name doesn't grab me i usually will not pick it up. Not sure why that is but it is the way i am. Some of these are really old. I told you i buy like mad and then go through seasons reading, or in this case NOT reading them.

The book i just got through reading is called "This Is Graceanne's Book". What a great book this was. It took place in the 60's and was about 3 kids and how they grew up. Their mom liked to beat Graceanne, but not the other kids. It also dealt with race relations and divorce back then. The youngest boy, Charlie, is the one who told the story and it was just incredible to see it told through the youngest ones eyes. If you have not read it i highly suggest it. It is by P. L. Whitney.

Movie night

Ok we will start with Escape To Witch Mountain. My kids did like it but when I see what they do with movies now some of that is just so lame LOL. but we had fun watching it anyway and making fun of it. We also watched House Bunny. OMG that movie was way to funny. When I saw that Adam Sandler had something to do with it I knew it was gonna be good. If you need a no brainer LYAO kind of movie this is definitely worth the watch.

Friday, January 9, 2009

And so we start

Over Christmas break me andf the kids would watch a movie together every night just about. For some reason they were running the old "Parent Trap" (which in my opinion was MUCH better than the Lohan version). Me and Caleb got to talking about how much better the first versions of things were. For example "Willy Wonka" (ok Joanne I know you hate the ompa's (sp)) do not get me wrong I love Johnny Depp but Gene Wilder was so so so much better in that role, and so were the ompa's LOL. Anyway, it got me to thinking of all the old movies that my kids have never seen and went to Netflix and found them all. So now we are getting all those movies. Started getting them this week and can not wait to sit with my kids and watch them. Curious to see if they like them.

Are they serious?

Ok so here we go again... MSN is my homepage and I pull my most news from there. Ok well the headlines anyway LOL. But today they had this thing about Oprah and her opening up about her weight! Seriously now she talks about this ALL the time. This is not anything new with her. I do feel for her with it, because it can and will always be a struggle for me. But come on this is not anything she hasn't "opened" up with before. You have to know I can NOT stand this women. She is so superficial and just plain sad to me. I am so sick of hearing about her.

100 Greatest Rock Songs

VH-1 is running this this month. my ever so dreamy Bret (not sure if he spells it with one or two t's) Michaels is hosting it, and in my opinion any time to sit and look at him is a good time ;O). Boy did this bring back so many groups and songs I had long forgotten about. But there were also bands that I had never heard of. Songs that I went "how in the hell did this one make it" and songs I knew would be in there. But thanks to this I now have all my old songs that i loved in my queue on Rhaposdy. If you love rock and roll then you would probably love this.

Ok so this made me laugh

Last night we were watching TV and the trailer for Notorious came on. Not a movie I would pay money for or hell even throw on my Netflix's queue. Who the hell even cares about Biggy Small. But the thing that made me laugh was them talking about it being the BIGGEST blockbuster movie of the year. I sat there laughing and thinking OMG if this is the best one they are putting out then God help us all. Because seriously?? who even cares?

Mamma Mia

Mamma Mia is right LOL. Ok so we finally watched this movie. I will start with the positive about this movie. It does make you feel good. It was nice to see Meryl Streeps daughter (she is super cute). It does make you smile and "acting" was good. BUT the singing??? OMG where in the hell was Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's head when they cast this cast knowing that it was a SINGING movie?? I LOVE ABBA!! I know they are hookey but I love them anyway ;O). But seriously, whoever told Meryl Streep she could sing needs some serious ear cleaning. And Pierce Bronson OMG he needs to just stick to be damn good looking for his age. Then there was the little women that played one of her best friends (sorry I have not a clue who she even was or what she has ever played in) when she sang, I seriously thought OMG someone switched this to a very bad American Idol audition!!! ALL my good ABBA song were butchered to say the least. I was so disappointed. I know there are some "big" names that can sing. Why the hell they cast these people is beyond me. Streep is one of my most favorite actresses ever. She is damn good. But she does NOT need to sing. I will give her credit that she was better than Pierce and that other chick but still. As my mom pointed out... Ethel Merman was known for her singing and she couldn't sing a damn lick either. I can't imagine the DVD sales on this one are going to be good. And now I understand why it was in and out of the theaters fast

New Year, New thoughts

Every year on New Years Eve or day i like to sit and think about the year that had gone by. Part of me likes having my birthday so close to the end because i can also reflect on that. This past year was overall a good year. Had some crazy ass fun times, had some very hard times (still trying to figure out if we should actually stay married or not), watched my son enter into the "drug" world (and not sure how the hell to get him out of it, since we are all stupid and don't know a damn thing) watched my daughter enter middle school and go from a sweet little girl into a child i don't even know anymore (thank you puberty LOL) and all kinds of highs and lows this year. It was a roller coaster for sure!! But then again when is it not and really when I look at it in the scheme of things, i think i prefer it that way. Life never gets boring around the "young" house for sure!

I am NOT one for making resolutions. I do not know anyone who actually sticks to them. But at the beginning of a year I like to think of things i would like to accomplish in the year to come. I say "like" because that way if it happens fine and if not, oh well there is always next year right? ;O)

So following in my little tradition here is what i would like to see happen: 1.) I would like to start reading again. I love to read and i go through seasons where i read a lot and then seasons where i don't. I have so many books (compliments of Borders. Because when i walk into a book store you better believe i am walking out with about 5 to 10 books) it is crazy. My goal is to get them all read this year without buying any new ones until i am done. (now that will be a challenge come summer when my kids have to have a book for summer reading) 2.) I would like to get this last 24lbs. the hell OFF my body. this has been one hell of a ride for me. But that which has gone has stayed gone, just need to get the last of it off. Why the hell it is so easy for guys to lose weight and not girls is beyond me and it frankly PISSES ME OFF! 3.) I would like to work on posting something each and every day. No matter how small or stupid it may be. I have this blog for a reason and i would like to make it worth the time. Don't even care if people read it or not. 4.) I want to watch movies that I have been saying" I really need to watch that someday" those would include "A River Runs Through It", "The Horse Whisperer" and there is one with Brad Pitt which for the life of me i can not think of the name of. I know it is way long but heard it was an awesome movie. There are others out there but my mind is drawing a complete blank. 5.) Spending and taking out more time for my kids. I seem to have fallen into "the computer is more important when i'm home" thoughts. I am going to try to have a game night each week. We have so many games that we all love to play. And hell to be honest we still have a few that we have never played. So going for a game night is good thing. 7.) Taking time each week to reflect and see what i would like to change in my life. Spending more time with God and less time with me. I really would like to know the true purpose of what the hell I am even doing on this earth!!

So that is it in a nut shell. There are a few other things I would like to do, but they are personal and things i need to work out for myself. Maybe as they are worked out i will share them, but then again maybe not ;O)

So I say a Happy New Year to all of you who do or don't read this LOL! I hope many blessing come to pass for us all in this new year we have to live through. Much success to you all through this crazy economy we have to face and can only hope that Obama can pull us through it.

Charles Barkley's Interesting DUI

This should win an Emmy. Charles Barkley was busted for a DUI in Arizona on New Year’s Eve after he blew a stop sign - trying to get oral sex in his car. “He told me that he ran the stop sign because he was in a hurry to pick up the girl I saw get in the passenger seat.” The officer continues: “He asked me to admit that she was ‘hot.’ He asked me, ‘You want the truth?’ When I told him I did he said, ‘I was gonna drive around the corner and get a b**w job. He then explained that she had given him a ‘b**w job’ one week earlier and said it was the best one he had ever had in his life.”

The report says when Barkley was taken to the station, he told one of the employees, “I’ll tattoo my name on your ass” if he helped “get him out of the DUI.” According to the report, “He laughed and then quickly corrected himself and said, ‘I’ll tattoo your name on my ass’ and then laughed again.” Barkley was also busted with a handgun in the vehicle.

John Travolta's 16-Year-Old Son Dies

This is just so sad.....Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of actor John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston, died Friday while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas. Jett had suffered a seizure at his family's vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island, said Michael Ossi, a lawyer for the family, in a statement through Travolta's rep. The teen hit his head in a bathtub Friday morning and was declared dead at Rand Memorial Hospital, police spokeswoman Loretta Mackey told the Associated Press. According to police, a caretaker had found Jett unconscious in the bathroom around 10 a.m. An autopsy is being pursued to determine the exact cause of death. Jett, who is the only son of Travolta, 54, and Preston, 46, had a history of seizures, according to Ossi. The couple also have a daughter, Ella Bleu, 8.The death was first reported by TMZ. In 2003 Preston told Montel Williams that when Jett was 2 he became "very, very ill, but it seemed like flu symptoms" before being diagnosed with Kawasaki disease. The condition, which usually affects children from ages 2 to 5, can cause inflammation of the arteries. Usually treatable, it can lead to lasting heart damage in rare cases. Preston, who also said Jett suffered from asthma, blamed household cleaners, fertilizers and pesticides for sparking the condition and lobbied for more detailed labeling on chemical products. She credited a detoxification program based on the writings of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard with helping to improve Jett's health. In November Jett joined his dad in Paris, where Travolta has been shooting From Paris with Love. In 1994 the actor told PEOPLE how much he loved fatherhood. "I can't imagine what life would be like without Jett," he said. "After he was born and cleaned up, I held him for hours while Kelly slept. When they came to take him away for various tests, I said, 'No, you can't see him today. You'll have to do it another day.' I went a little nutsy."
